If the reinforcing member is pressed on the fiber core ( loose tube with fiber), the fiber core tube will be deformed and the loss will increase. The fiber inside the loose tube will be broken due to the long-term stress, which will cause hidden trouble for the transmission.

Length of the strengthen member should be appropriate . When the loose tube is fixed, we will continue to fix the fiber cable. It need to ensure the fiber will not move in the fiber optic splice closure and avoid increased loss or breakage for the fiber. The fixing work can be divided in to twp parts: fixing of the strengthen member and fixing of other parts of the fiber cable. It should pay attention to the length of the strength member, if it is too long it may not have enough space for it, if it is too short, it can not play its fixing role. Generally, after cutting the strengthen member, the length of the strengthen member between the clamping plate of the fixed optical cable and the fixed screw of the strengthen member is equal. The fixing of other parts is after the strengthen member is fixed, tightening the clamp with the screws and fastening it firmly to the entrance of the cable inlet of the fiber splice joint closure.

The length of the loose tube should be opened and stripped properly. When the optical cable is fixed, the fiber core can be opened and stripped. If the stripping length is too long, it will reach the slot for heat shrinkable tube, and will damage fiber during winding fiber; If the stripping length is too short, the fixed clip will be stuck on the optical fiber when the loose tube is fixed, which will damage the optical fiber easily. Therefore, generally the appropriate length is stripped it over to the two fixed bayonet, in this length, the loose tube with fiber inside will not cause damage to the optical fiber, but also can be well fixed. But the clip can not be too tight when it is fixed, otherwise the loss fiber will increase due to extra force, as time rolled by, the fiber will break and bring trouble for the project.
