FAPC-SASAS19 , 0.9mm Tight Buffer Fiber Optic Jumper Single Mode SC To SC Simplex Yellow Jacket
3D Interferometer Test Of Fiber Optic Patch Cord And Fiber Pigtail
The success of the fiber line connection depends on the quality of physical connection of optical fiber, which is a function of the geometry of the connector itself. If the geometry can not be controlled strictly, it will not get reliable network connection.
Telcordia GR-326 provides three technical parameters for fiber optic connector: radius of curvature, apex offset and fiber height. If the geometric parameter can not meet the requirements, the system will face a huge risk of failure. Therefore, it is very important to understand the geometric dimensions of the face.
Curvature radius : The radius of curvature is the radius of the core axis to the end face. It can also be described as: the radius of the end face (curve), the connector achieve fiber end tightening via the pressure of the spring, and radius of curvature maintain the center matching force of the optical fiber by control the compression force . Unqualified curvature radius will increase or decrease the pressure of the optical fiber, which will eventually bring matching distance of the fiber center and even damage the fiber end face. The insertion loss and the return loss will be changed slowly, but it is terrible that it can not be simulated accurately by any standard method.
Apex offset is the highest point of the end face to the axis of fiber core. The apex offset increases the effective coupling region of the fiber and increasing the insertion loss and return loss.
Fiber height is the distance between end face and fiber core. The height of the optical fiber is used to measure the contact between two optical fibers. When the material is expanded or shortened, the optical fiber gap will form the air gap between the fiber contacts, and the insertion and return loss will be changed. Fiber height will increase the pressure between optical fibers and damage the fiber, or transfer the pressure to the epoxy to fix the fiber, thereby undermining the fixation of the optical fiber and affect the stable performance.
If a fiber optic jumper can pass 3D interferometer test, we can say it is with high quality, but not all fiber patch cord need to pass the 3D test because most of fiber patch leads are for common use and the routine test is enough, meanwhile, 3D test will bring extra process time and cost, so our proposal is when you need it for high speed network or high quality application, pls order the one pass 3D test, if it is just for common use, routine test is enough.
