Aramid Or Kevlar Strengthen Member Of Fiber Optic Jumper And Fiber Cable

Aramid (Kevlar) is a new type of high-tech synthetic fiber, it is with ultra high strength, high modulus, high temperature resistance, acid resistance, alkali resistance and light weight, its strength is 5 ~ 6 times of steel wire, modulus is 2 ~ 3 times pf steel wire or glass fiber , toughness is 2 times of steel wire, but the weight only about 1/5 of steel wire , it does not decompose or melt at 560 ℃ temperature. It is with good insulation and anti-aging performance so its use life is long.

Aramid (Kevlar) is with good mechanical properties, it is a kind of flexible polymer, the breaking strength is higher than common polyester, cotton, nylon and so on. It has the advantages of large elongation, soft handle and good spinnability.

Excellent flame retardancy and heat resistance, the limiting oxygen index (LOI) of the aramid fiber is greater than 28, so it does not burn when it leaves the flame. The flame retardancy of the meta aramid fiber is determined by its chemical structure, so it is a kind of permanent flame retardant fiber. The aramid fiber has good thermal stability and can be used continuously under the condition of 205℃, and the high strength can be maintained at temperature higher than 205℃. The aramid fiber has higher decomposition temperature, and does not melt under high temperature condition. When the temperature is higher than 370 ℃, it begins to carbonization.

Stable chemical properties, aramid has excellent resistance to most chemicals, it can resistant most high concentrations inorganic acid, and its alkaline resistance also excellent at room temperature.

Radiation resistance, the radiation resistance of aramid fiber is excellent. For example, under the condition of 1.2 x 10-2 w/in2 ultraviolet radiation and a long time irradiation of 1.72 x 108rads ray, the intensity is still the same.

Durability, aramid fiber is with excellent corrosion resistance and chemical resistance.
